About Sun Ya restaurant

We are a small and intimate restaurant run by husband and wife team Kim and Kim Lai.  We were established in the early sixties by my father  Peter who has now retired.

Peter was originally from Hong Kong.  He came over to the UK in 1962 and set up the Sun Ya in 1964 offering the small town of Marlow something a little bit different  for those days.  I took over the business in the mid nineties and has set up my own clientele base on top of the regulars from the sixties that still dine here.  My wife also called Kim joined me in the business towards the end of the nineties and we have established ourselves as a great team.  As the proprietor of the business, I am responsible for the day to day running of Sun Ya so you can  always expect a warm welcome.

The décor of the restaurant is minimalistic with splashes of Chinese influence.
We can seat up to 30 people and we provide an excellent takeaway service with a 10% discount.
All the usual favourites are available including crispy aromatic duck with pancakes and shredded beef, and let’s not forget the toffee bananas for dessert followed by a pot of jasmine tea to end the evening.  An excellent Chinese beer is also available from the selection of bottled beers.  From Sunday to Thursday we have a great value three course meal in the restaurant available for £15.00 (£8.90 for children under 12 years old). We are open in the evenings only and we are closed on Mondays.

Bookings are recommended as there is limited seating available.  Small parties are catered for with special set menus if required.  Vegetarians are well catered for as we have an extensive vegetarian menu.  The restaurant is fully air conditioned which is great for those hot summer days.

Marlow has changed a lot in the last 45 years but the Sun Ya will not change as we continue to serve the people of Marlow and surrounding areas with good food and a friendly service.  If you have never sampled the Sun Ya, then why not pop along next time you are in Marlow.  You will be pleasantly surprised as it is unpretentious and great for casual dining and families.  The restaurant is situated on a side street near the town centre.  Book now to avoid disappointment.  We look forward to seeing you.
